Our bodies are designed for health.  If we provide the building blocks needed and remove the obstacles to cure we see the body move from a state of disease back into balance and health.  Unfortunately the society that we live in gives us many opportunities to move out of balance.  The body needs proper nutrition, clean water, clean air, and healthy relationships with the people and the surrounding environment.  When we move too far out of balance, there are many therapy options to assist in returning to a state of balance.

Proper Nutrition is vital to a healthy body.  Without the proper building blocks needed to create new cells, repair damage, and remove toxins we are much more susceptible to wear and tear as well as disease.

Craniosacral therapy is a gentle, noninvasive form of bodywork that addresses compression of the bones of the head, spinal column and sacrum. Relieving this pressure can alleviate stress and pain and provides restoration of the natural position of these bones.

Craniosacral therapy can provide relief from chronic injuries, migraine headaches, tension headaches, neck and back pain, temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ disorder), chronic fatigue, scoliosis and many other conditions.

 Acupuncture has been used in China for more than 5000 years.  Energy (Qi) flows through the body in channels known as meridans.  Acupuncture aids in balancing this energy flow through the body with the use of fine needles inserted into specific locations along the meridians.  An imbalance of the body’s qi leads to diseases including pain, headaches, cold/flu, tennis elbow, nausea, constipation, diarrhea, addiction, asthma, PCOS, IBS, , irregular menstruation, insomnia and many more.

Botanical Medicine is an excellent use of the healing power of nature to support, assist and rebuild the body in times of disease.  This is the modality that brought me to Naturopathic Medicine and one that I enjoy because it is hands-on.  Herbs can be used as first aid remedies as well as providing long-term healing effects.   I enjoy the many aspects of herbal medicine,  therapeutic uses of those herbs.  There are many ways to benefit from the therapeutic benefits of herbs.  Herbs can be used topically in oils, salves, soaps, lotions and poultices or internally as capsules, tinctures or teas.  The possibilities are endless with these amazing plants.

Homeopathy was developed in the 1800s by German doctor Samuel Hahnemann.   It is based on the law of similars which states that ‘like cures like hence the name homeopathy which literally means ‘similar disease’.  A substance that produces certain symptoms in a healthy person, when used homeopathically, will cure an ill person with those same symptoms.  The origins of most homeopathic remedies are from plants, animals, and minerals.  This therapy can be used to treat acute and chronic conditions and is individualized to each patient.

Mind/Body Medicine covers many therapies such as EFT, Biofeedback, and meditation.  Stress is a common component in modern life, but it is very harmful to the body.  Stress management is an important skill in our overworked, rushed society since stress makes most existing health issues worse.  Our attitude, mental state, and emotional state plays a large part in our health and our satisfaction and enjoyment of this life.
